Travelling to a foreign country can sometimes be a risky experience as most times all you have to reply on is travel reviews from websites from people you don't know.
We've just returned from our ski trip to Japan and can I say that our journey and experience was nothing short of breathtaking. Zao Onsen and the Zao Kokusai Hotel was the most amazing ski experience I have had in my many, many years of skiing abroad. Whilst the hotel was perfectly located near the ski slopes, had good ski hire facilities and was extremely comfortable, we found that the staff both on front desk and the dinning area were just so obliging, helpful, professional and warmly accommodating of us as non Japanese. The meals at the hotel were stunning, in particular the dinners which were all traditional Japanese fare.
The snow in Hakuba was amazing and we got to ski in deep powder snow. The kids hadn't seen snow before so it was special. After Hakuba we travelled by bullet train to Tokyo and your directions to get from Tokyo to Disney were very helpful. Our stay at the Sheraton Grande was very very nice and we loved Disneysea. We also did a afternoon tour of Tokyo which was really interesting and we could not have seen the sights without the tour.
Best ski experience EVER!!! Chalet Ivy was brilliant! We’re not gonna go anywhere else!! We’re going back to Niseko next season and coming back to you
Our family travelled to Japan for the first time over the Christmas and New Year season. Thanks to the tireless help of Yukiko in the Travel Japan team, we had a fantastic time! From the fairy-tale snowy highlands at Nikko to the traditional atmosphere of Hakone and Mt Fuji, and the hustle-bustle of the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo… we have many fond memories of these eastern isles.
We had a great trip. The skiing was great in Niseko. The transfer went very smoothly. We used the rail pass quite a bit, getting around Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima and Kirashiki. It would have been nicer to spend a bit more time at Miyajima. Thanks for your help.
We enjoyed the food very much, and have decided that Australian food is too much, and very unhealthy. We both really liked Tokyo and Hiroshima. I personally loved Tokyo, because of it's order and punctuality. Although all Japan was very ordered and punctual compared to Australia. Also very clean which was amazing.
