Day 1 Fukuoka Airport Fukuoka

Welcome to Japan! Upon your arrival at Fukuoka Airport you will be met at the airport by your shared shuttle driver and taken to your hotel. Following check in, the rest of the day is yours to spend freely at leisure exploring the city.

Day 2 Fukuoka

Fukuoka

Following breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and head out to experience a full sightseeing day of Hakata. Visit Ohori Park, one of the most beautiful parks incorporating water in Japan. Continue to Fukuoka castle ruins, which was the largest castle in Kyushu in the Edo period. After the ruins, visit Fukuoka Tower, the tallest seaside tower in Japan at 234 metres high. From there, go to Marizon, a waterfront terrace thrusting out into Hakata Bay. Tour duration is approx. 5 hours and the afternoon/evening is yours to spend freely at your own leisure.

Day 3 Fukuoka Nagasaki

Fukuoka  Nagasaki

Following breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the train station. Using your reserved seat train ticket, catch the Express Train to Nagasaki where you will meet your guide and enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of Gunkan-jima, an old abandoned island off the coast of Nagasaki. At 13:00, depart from Nagasaki Port Terminal. Spend the afternoon cruising around the abandoned island. On your return, spend the afternoon at your leisure strolling the beautiful streets of Nagasaki.

Day 4 Nagasaki

Nagasaki

Following breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a full free day for sightseeing at your own leisure. Nagasaki Peace Park, Glover Garden, Sofukuji & Kohukuji Temples and the Nagasaki Museum of History are all popular sightseeing destinations in the city. In the early evening, meet your guide to be taken on the Mt. Inasa Night View Bus Tour to take in the breathtaking views of the area from Mt. Inasa Observatory.

Day 5 Nagasaki Kumamoto

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer by train from Nagasaki to the beautiful Kumamoto City. Once you have arrived and are checked-in to your accommodation, meet your tour guide to embark on an afternoon in Kumamoto tour. Visit the town’s famed castle, enjoy sake tasting at a local brewery and try your hand at Japanese sweet wagashi making before heading back to your hotel to enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 6 Kumamoto Kagoshima

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will transfer by train to Kagoshima for another free day of sightseeing at your leisure. Kyushu's southernmost major city, Kagoshima is often compared with its Italian sister city Naples due to a similarly mild climate, palm tree lined streets. Popular sightseeing areas include Kagoshima Aquarium and Reimeikan Museum; a large museum detailing the area’s history and culture. If you're feeling adventurous, a 15 minute ferry ride from Kagoshima will take you to Sakurajima - and active volcano and the symbol of Kagoshima.

Day 7 Kagoshima

Kagoshima

Following breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide at Kagoshima Chuo Station or Tenmonkan Station and proceed to Shiroyama  Observatory and Sakurajima Yunohira Observatory, closest point to the volcanic vent of Sakurajima. Also visit Senganen, a Japanese-style landscape garden along the coast, to the north of downtown. As the tour concludes, head back to your hotel and spend the evening at your own leisure.

Day 8 Kagoshima Miyazaki

Following breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Kagoshima Station and continue on to Miyazaki. Upon arrival in Miyazaki, spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Miyazaki Shrine; a shrine with large park in the city centre & Heiwadai Park; a public park with a unique peace tower make for interesting sightseeing spots, and the prefectural museum is a must visit for those interested in the area's history and nature. Alternatively, Aoshima - a small island just off the coast of Miyazaki with pristine white sand beaches lining a densely jungled island – is easily accessed from Miyazaki and makes for a relaxing day trip. In the heart of this island lies a beautiful shrine; Aoshima Jinja.

Day 9 Miyazaki Nobeoka Station Takachiho

Following breakfast at your hotel, take a train to Nobeoka Station where you will be met by your English speaking guide and travel by public coach to Takachiho. Following check in at your hotel for the night, your guide will accompany you on a walk to Takachiho Shrine and Gorge. These stunning landmarks are less travelled by tourists and display the natural beauty of Japan. After your day of sightseeing through these hidden landscapes, head back to you hotel for a brief rest before joining  your guide again to enjoy a Kagura Dance performance – a customary traditional dance and theatre performance with roots that date back over eight hundred years, and in 1978 was designated a significant intangible folk cultural asset of Japan. Following the performance, return to your hotel to spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 10 Takachiho Minami Aso Tateno Station Beppu

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will leave Takachiho by coach. Stopping at Michinoeki Nagino, a rental bicycle will be waiting for you to set out and explore the region’s vast natural beauty, cafes and sightseeing locations. Upon return to the station later in the afternoon, you will take a taxi to Tateno Station and travel onward by train to your next destination; Beppu. Upon arrival, make your way to your Ryokan for a relaxing night enjoying rejuvenating in the Ryokans Onsens (hot springs) and a delicious dinner, made from locally harvested produce.

Day 11 Beppu Fukuoka

Following breakfast, meet your English speaking guide and head out on the Beppu Sightseeing Tour. After meeting your guide at JR Beppu Station, journey onto Umijigoku (sea hell), Kamadajigoku, and Jigoku Mushi Kobo (where you can experience steam making your own food for an additional pay on the spot fee), before walking through Beppu city. At the conclusion of this tour,  gather your luggage and use your JR Passes to transfer back to Fukuoka by train for your last night’s stay in Japan.

Day 12 Fukuoka Fukuoka Airport

Following breakfast at your hotel, spend part of the day in Fukuoka at your own leisure until it is time to depart to Fukuoka airport by shared shuttle.
