Japan despite its small landmass, offers some incredible skiing, with mountains of powder snow and is home to a surprising number of skiing areas numbering over 600 ski resorts. The best resorts are in the Hokkaido, Nagano, Niigata & Tohoku regions, where trails & runs suit all levels and each have a unique character. Whilst you are not skiing there are still plenty of activities to keep you occupied, including a dip in an onsen (hot spring) which is one of the best things to do after a day on the slopes. Skiers and boarders are able to combine amazing snow with the unique culture of Japan and it does not get better than this.
